Why Do You Need A Different System to Memorize GRE Vocab Words?

group[1]All the famous GRE vocab courses such as Barron’s, Kaplan, Manhattan are primarily designed for American students who are educated in American schools and colleges.

Did you realize that most of these students begin to focus on GRE 2 to 4 weeks before the exams? This becomes obvious if you spend 10 minutes to check the feedback on Amazon.com.

But, most non-native speakers of English, who want to score high on GRE, are willing to spend 3 to 6 months on GRE prep and need a different vocab system.

I Got Only  20% in Vocab

raj-nameMy name is Raj Bapna and I now live in India.

During my B.E. studies at BITS Pilani, I needed to prepare for the GRE exam to go to USA for higher studies.

I had realized myself and others had also told me that vocab is difficult, but I told myself, “I am different. I am special. I’ll be able to score at least 70% to 80% if I work hard for one year”.

Even though I am pretty smart and studied hard, made sacrifices, I got only 20% in verbal on my GRE exam.

I felt frustration and even humiliation and I honestly almost gave up the dream of going to USA for higher education.

gre-result

I myself got only 20% in verbal,
though I got 97% in quantitative

That’s when I made it my mission that if ever I succeed and get a chance, I will develop something, so students can learn better and faster without having to go through the pain and frustration that I had to face.

Finally I did become good at English and did go to USA and worked there for almost 7 years. I worked at many companies including the world famous Intel Corp in California.

I co-authored a bestselling book on computers called “Tricks of the MS-DOS Masters” in 1990 published by MacMillan. While working at Intel, I even flew in a small 4-seater airplane for a business meeting from Silicon Valley in California to Oregon and back.

I retuned to India in 1991 to create courses for students. And now, you can benefit from my vocab course.

Have You Already Realized that
Vocab is Difficult to Memorize …

Though it is relatively easy to learn and memorize new word lists, it is extremely difficult to remember them after a few days or weeks.

The Traditional Methods of Memorizing Vocab
Do Not Work Well

The traditional vocab methods used by various books, guides, and coaching institutes for vocabulary building include wordlists, flash cards, SMSs, quizzes, games, etc. And, they don’t work well.

  • With wordlists you get from institutions or books, you have to repeatedly read and write and even speak aloud the words to memorize them. This is a boring and tedious process and takes many many repetitions, which means there is not enough time to memorize all necessary the words.
  • Flash cards have the same problem.
  • SMSs, though high-tech, are totally worthless because you can only see only few words at a time and can’t revise them (remember “revision is the mother of memory”).
  • Quizzes and games seems to be interesting way, but are a total waste of time because they can’t cover the needed more than 4,000 words. Quizzes are games are good if you want to memorize only a few hundred words.

Even Famous Books
Continue to Teach These Methods
that Don’t Work

Even the authors of vocabulary books think their job is to give you the best collection of words. What they fail to realize is that any big dictionary contains the best collection words, but the real job here is to put about 4,000 to 4,500 important words into your long-term memory in a practical easy way so you can get high score.

So What It Means to You Is …

Only a small number of people with special natural ability and skill can memorize using the old method. That is why it falls flat.

Where this course helps is that you memorize in a new way that makes it easy for almost anybody to memorize the vocab 3 to 7 times faster.

Here is another reason why this method is so great: It is much more enjoyable to learn with audio because you just relax and listen to the words again and again, automatically memorizing them effortlessly.

You can enjoy because you can sit down and relax and recharge your energy while you learn, whereas he traditional method makes study tedious and hard and only those who either have natural ability or computer-like discipline can succeed. Whereas with an audio program, anyone can sit back and simply relax, listen and learn vocab.

But, It’s Not Your Fault

It is not your fault for 2 reasons:

  • It is the nature of our mind, which is simply not capable of remembering many uncommon and odd words just by reading word lists a few times and you know there is not a lot of time to revise many many many times.
  • Most so-called experts don’t know: Even the best coaching classes only give many word lists but fail to put those word lists in the long-term memory of your mind because they do not specialize in mind power and mind technologies.
The Worst Mistake

Many Students Make

Many students tend to postpone memorizing vocab because it is hard. They just focus on all others things.

This is the worst mistake anyone can make.

So, what you should do is start vocab preparation if you have not already started, whether or not you decide to get this audio program.

Important Warning GRE Vocab “Tricks” Non-Native Speakers

It may surprise you that GRE tends to test you for meanings that are not the most common meanings of words.

For example, here are some words and the meanings you need to know (taken from the course). I have also added the meaning that will not lead to correct answer:

milk = extract
USE = the directors milked the company of several million dollars
(not the milk you drink)

stole = long scarf
USE = a mink stole
(not a form of steal)

riddle = to make many holes in, permeate
USE = the anti-aircraft guns riddled the plane’s wings with bullets
(not a puzzle)

root = to dig
USE = she rooted through the papers on her desk
(not root of a tree)

kite = bad check
USE = *
(not a kite that people fly)

rifle = search through and steal
USE = the safe had been rifled and the diamonds were gone
(not the rifle used for firing bullets)

ejaculate = exclaim
USE = You’ve got my umbrella! he ejaculated
(not sex related ejaculation)

You Only Get “Short Memorable Sentence Fragments”

You don’t get 3 or 5 or 10 meanings and sentences that are impossible to remember (a dictionary is better if you want to do PhD on some aspects of words).

I give you a short and memorable sentence fragments, so you can remember faster and better.

Here are some examples from the course:

euphoria = elation, feeling of well-being or happiness
USE = in a state of euphoria

evade = to avoid
USE = don’t evade taxes

excerpt = selection from a book, extract
USE = excerpt of a new book

illicit = unlawful, illegal
USE = illicit liquor

immense = huge
USE = at immense cost

de facto = actual
USE = de facto standard (Not full sentence)

draconian = harsh
USE = draconian laws

prodigy = a person with extraordinary ability or talent
USE = a child prodigy

eke = to add to, supplement
USE = to eke out a living

Herculean = powerful, large
USE = a Herculean task

pyrrhic = a battle won with unacceptable losses
USE = a pyrrhic victory

Who is Raj Bapna and What Makes Him
an Expert to be Able to Help You

I was lucky to get NTSE scholarship (NCERT) and 5th rank in Raj High School Board. I was also fortunate to study BE at BITS Pilani and M Tech at IIT Kharagpur.

I had only bicycle during my studies and job, and never had a scooter or motor cycle before going to USA, where I bought my first car in 1988, a Toyota.

In USA, I worked as Software Engineer at Intel Corporation in California USA and at several other companies.

In USA, I was member of Society of Accelerated Learning and Teaching in USA and learnt Neuro Linguistic Programming.  At the peak of success in 1991, I left USA and returned to India to help students and do good for our own country.

For over 20 years now, I have been helping students like you.

You’ll benefit from my deep knowledge, passion and intense training from the best in the world.

I want you to know that you’ll benefit from my deep knowledge, passion and intense training from the best in the world.

If you’ve taken a few GRE practice tests and if your score was low because you didn’t know the definitions of certain words at all, making it quite difficult for you to discern the correct answer, then any improvement in your vocabulary would help on the test.

Unique and helpful “GRE Word List” for tough vocabulary

If you’re really planning on nailing the vocab part of the GRE then I would recommend this audio program.

Seriously – get this program and you will maximize your score. For people whose verbal and essay scores are most important, this program is really worth the time it takes to work through.

It will help you feel prepared and confidant going into test day.

If you’re more of a math person, then you will find this a lot more useful than various GRE books.

You will be finding many of the words in this program on your pretests.

Don’t buy too many books, aids, flashcards, software:
avoid duplicate and wasted effort.
You have to focus to
build the critical GRE word list you need for the test

Many students just buy too many study aides (books, flash cards, software) in the mistaken belief that more resources will increase the score. But unfortunately, it ends up in duplicate and wasted effort.

What you really need to do is focus on just an audio program, PowerPrep software from ETS to take practice tests and a flashcards or book like Barron’s or Princeton or Dummies or Kaplan to make the best of your time to learn vocab and get high GRE score.

In any case, do NOT use more than 3 aids (one of which should be a comprehensive audio program).

Many students use this audio program combined with flashcards and the official GRE book (or other books/software) to expand their vocabulary and to practice large numbers of questions to develop their confidence and do really well in the test.

A real lifesaver if vocab is hard for you to memorize
Should be the foundation for your GRE vocab studying!

This program will help you increase your score because it gives you comprehensive vocabulary.

Just YouTube analytical writing in the GRE and everyone will tell you how important it is to understand complex vocabulary …

I can honestly say that this program will be the most helpful for strengthening your vocabulary and making the definitions “stick.”

Not for everybody
Not for those who have only a week or two to prepare.
It is a complete and comprehensive program
with 3,871 word list for GRE Vocab

If you have just a week or two to prepare, then it is better you use flashcards or a book to maximize your GRE score.

But, if you have 2 months or more and want to maximize your GRE score, this audio program is just right for you.

If you have the time, it really helps you master the GRE vocab through repeated listening in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

You will benefit whether you need some help with vocab or whether you are already good or terrible at it.

  • Even if you are terrible in at GRE verbal and don’t know where to start, this audio program will provide the right preparation in step-by-step or track-by-track, giving you competence and the resulting confidence.
  • Even if you are already confident in my verbal skills, you’ll be more systematic and you’ll learn some new vocab along the way with clarity, enabling you to score higher.

The Worst Mistake
Many Students Make

Many students tend to postpone memorizing vocab because it is hard. They just focus on all the other things.

This is the worst mistake anyone can make.

So, what you should do is start vocab preparation if you have not already started, whether or not you decide to get the Franklin Vocab System.

Asking this simple question reveals a secret

“Why do children learn new words so easily and why do teens and adults do so with such great difficulty?”

If we ask this this question, we can immediate notice a couple of differences:

How children learn

How adults learn

Children hear parents and others Adults see and write words
Children hear and repeat each word tens or even hundreds of times Adults read once or twice and expect to remember

Of all these, one element stands out, and that is the importance of “hearing the words”.

So the answer is to create a good audio recording of the words you need to memorize.

The beauty with good audio vocab is that it can be easy to listen to and easy to repeat as many times as needed. It can be relaxing to listen to and learn. It can even be enjoyable and completely stress free.

You can create such an audio recording yourself.

Or, you can use an audio program like the one we have just developed.

What You Get in the Franklin GRE Vocab Builder Audio Program

  • Vocabulary eBook with all words
  • 19 Vocab Sessions: Each session is up to 60 minutes long. You get the complete 3,871 words required for the GRE test.

    You revise up to 200 words. About half the words are in a male voice and half in a female voice. For all words, you hear meanings, and for most words, you also hear memorable contextual sentence fragments that have been very carefully chosen for easy memorization.
  • Unlike dictionaries, for most words, we give only one or two meanings that are most appropriate for GRE. The goal is to memorize the “right meanings” and not “all the dictionary meanings”.

  • The recording is by two good professional voiceover experts (male and female) with an advanced knowledge of the vocabulary.

Bonus #1: 10 Extra Recordings from GMAT and SAT

You get 10 extra recordings.

You can learn these words after you learn the GRE words and still have extra time.

International students also find these words very useful.

Value $100

Bonus #2: Sound Track “Awake and Energize”

This bonus comes from a former Intel engineer in California, who now specializes in mind technology for students.

This sound track has 2 very specific uses:

  1. Use it when you are feeling sleepy or tired and need quick boost.
    IMPORTANT: The goal is not to reduce or cut down on sleep, but to feel awake and energized just in case you are feeling sleepy/lazy or tired.
  2. Use it if you want to get out of a state of deep relaxation to do something requiring full attention such as riding a motorcycle or driving a car.
    This is so powerful that even using it for just 3 minutes gives good results and the running time is only 5 minutes.

Value: $20

Bonus #3: Additional Version of the
Complete GRE Vocab Builder Audio Program
with Soft Music and Brainwave Entrainment Technologies

This bonus uses brainwave technologies from a former Intel engineer in California, who now specializes in mind technology for students.

You get the complete vocab program in this format.

Why do we give you 2 versions (one plain audio recording and another with brainwave technologies)? Because this approach allows you to experiment and get the maximum benefit, whether or not you you presently believe in the new generation of brainwave technologies.

Value: $190

Let me ask you a question

If you continue to study just like most other students, how are you going to meet your dream?

If you don’t try the best you can, what do you think the result will be?

Only you know fully what you and your family will gain if you achieve success and only you know what you and your family will lose if you don’t.

So, it is up to only you to decide now to order today, because the sooner you get it, the sooner you benefit.

One emotion I never want you to have

Because you have read up to this, I know that you are really committed to your goal and that alone will keep you ahead of others.

And, because you are really committed to your goal, I never want you to have a “regret” which means thinking later in life “if only I had done such and such, I would have got such and such success.”

Whatever your dream is, go for it right now, because if you don’t try your best now, you tell me what level of regret you might have in life later.

 “In life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough!

You must take action!”
